NUSA LEMBONGAN : THE OTHER SIDE OF BALI

Bali sound really familiar as an Travel Icon in Indonesia, so many great travel spot here, from the "dolphin" Lovina Beach in North Bali to the legend of Kuta Beach in South Bali. For the traveler who came first or second in  Bali, you can enjoy all the "famous" travel spot in Bali, but how about for the traveler who have visiting Bali for more than 2nd time?, this time I want to share about "Nusa Lembongan" the other beautiful spot in Bali.

Nusa Lembongan is a small island of the southeast coast of the main island of Bali. Quickly becoming one of Bali's most popular attractions, this island paradise is a world away from the hassle and hectic pace of South Bali. Neither hawkers nor traffic mar the magnificent scenery; this is a fine place to just put your feet up and relax. Main activities include surfing, diving and snorkeling. The water is some of the clearest you will find anywhere, and a vivid aqua blue in colour (wikitravel)

My side trip to Nusa Lembongan started from Sanur Beach. Arrived at Sanur Beach at 10 am, after paid Rp. 5.000,- for entrance fee and also Rp. 15.000,- for parking fee, I bought the fast boat ticket to Nusa Lembongan at the ticket counter that cost Rp. 75.000,- per passenger. For your information, the fast boat price is differ for domestic and international tourist. The boat actually departed from Sanur Beach at 10.30 am, but it’s delayed about 30 minutes from the scheduled. After waiting for almost 45 minutes, the boat was departed form Sanur Beach to Nusa Lembongan. It takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes sea journey.

The boat was clean cause we have to put off our shoes when entering the boat. For me, it's harder sea journey than the fast boat that we take to Phi Phi, maybe its because of the stronger of wind  & waves. In this sea journey, 30 minutes first, we're really enjoying the journey and the rest we're just laying on the seat. The boat brought about 50 passenger and we are the 4 only local tourist here.

Arriving in Lembongan, I tried to search the traditional boat . There were many "calo" when alight the port, so you have to be careful, just try to looking for the owner of the boat to get the cheaper price. I got the traditional boat at cost Rp. 500.000,- nett with the snorkeling tools and life jackets to getting around the island and to snorkeling. Our snorkeling activities started at 01.30 pm, so i still have 30 minutes to enjoy the lunch at this island. Walking about 10 minutes from the beach, I found the "Warung Putu" that serve halal seafood. For me, the taste was standard but the owner of this "Warung" was very friendly and give all the information about Lembongan.Actually this place not only usual "Warung", Warung Putu also offering rooms with private pool with on the spot price Rp. 300.000,-

After enjoy The Warung Putu Seafood with great "Sambal Matah", we all ride the traditional boat to make a snorkeling trip and getting around the island that having great mangrove forest. Our Traditional boat journey was horrible, the strong waves hits the boat few time. But Thanks to Allah, everything was fine till we arrived at the snorkeling spot in amngrove forest area, about 30 minutes boat journey from the port.

For me, as an non expert snorkeler, this is the best spot that i ever found, compared with the other spot in Belitung and The Famous Phi Phi island at Andaman Sea.  In here, you can find lots of variety of fish, more colors of coral, red, blue, green, yellow, its really amazing for me. The other unique thing of this spot is it's undeep sea, so you can touch the coral with your foot, but just a little touch y, don't destructed it. After 90 minutes snorkeling in this spot, we're back to the port, and you know what?, we're meet "the dancing dolphin" that show us how beautiful them. So, no need to go far away to the north bali only to see them, I can see them here in Lembongan Island.

Arriving at the port, I bought the ticket to Sanur Beach that depart from Lembongan at 4 pm that cost Rp. 100.000,- its more expensive that the fast boat ticket from Sanur to Lembongan, because its different boat and different operator, but in total, I paid for all of us, Rp. 250.000,- one way.

Departed at Sanur Beach at 5.30 pm, clean the body at public bath and then dont forget to enjoy some food at Warung Mak Beng in front of the Public Bath, its so yummy.
